Argon
Argon is used as a shielding gas. Argon is used to protect the molten metal against elements in the atmosphere including oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen. These elements cause reactions with the liquid weld pool, such as porosity and increased weld spatter. Argon also improves weld penetration, better filler wire transfer, and better weld appearance. Sunstone's Premium argon is 99.996% pure Argon (Argon 4.6).

About How Long Should My Argon Tank Last?
It depends on a number of different factors, such as frequency of use, pressure setting, and pre/post flow settings. Sunstone's premium argon comes in an 50 scf tank, which is the most common size for use with Sunstone's Orion Welding Systems. A 50 scf tank will last 6-9 months on average, depending on use.
Will I Need an Argon Regulator?
Yes, if you do not already have a gas regulator please click here to order our deluxe regulator. We strongly recommend purchasing the a regulator from Sunstone to ensure a proper match with a Sunstone tank.
Note: An "AGR Inline" regulator will not work with a Sunstone argon tank.
What is The Recommended Argon Pressure?
Sunstone's Orion Welding systems work best at around 10 PSI. The pressure can be adjusted depending on the workpiece and how far the electrode protrudes from the welding stylus. The further out the electrode, the more argon pressure will be required in order to get proper coverage.
What You Need to Know about Shipping
UPS views any compressed gas tank as a hazardous item and adds a fee to the normal shipping cost. Sunstone will ship your argon tank in a special box certified for compress gas tanks. Further, the valve at the top of the tank is protected by a steel cover. Finally, we pad the top and the bottom of every tanks with custom foam inserts. Per UPS requirements, we clearly mark the box for easy identification.

Return Goods Policy.
Seller’s products may be returned to Seller for credit within thirty (30) days of the shipment subject to the following conditions.
Sunstone offers a 30-day return policy on all products. Before sending a product back please contact Sunstone to receive an RMA number. The RMA number should appear clearly on the outside of the package. Customers are refunded via check. Please note that a 10% restocking fee will apply to all returns. A 30% restocking fee will apply to all 3rd party products (laser welders, laser engravers, PW - AC Welders, and AVIO products). Additionally, all 3rd party products must be insured when sent back to Sunstone at the buyer’s expense. In some cases, a merchant fee may apply. Equipment damaged by improper use or insufficient shipping precautions will be charged additional fees.
*DADO Laser Welder – No cash refunds available for the dado laser welder. However, The Dado Laser Welder may be returned within 30 days for credit towards another Orion or Sunstone product.
*Argon tanks have a $35 restocking fee, the tank must be emptied and left open with the protective cap put in place. All hazardous material and compressed gas stickers need to be removed from the packaging as the empty cylinder is not hazardous and doesn't contain compressed gas.
*Refunds will not be issued for services that have already been rendered such as shipping, calibration, or trainings.
