The New G-Servo Micro Weld Head: Electromagnetic Linear Motion for Super Precise Welding
The latest addition to Sunstone's line up of weld heads pushes the envelope in terms of precision. The G-Servo, in a micro weld head configuration, utilizes an electromagnetic linear motion frame for incredibly fine control.
How precise?
“With the G-Servo weld head, Sunstone has significantly raised the bar when it comes to accuracy,” says Jonathan Young, president of Sunstone Engineering. “The weld head’s electromagnetic linear motion allows the unit to place a spot weld within 1 micron of the desired location, a degree of precision hard to find anywhere else. Moreover, the G-Servo’s ability to accurately place 30 grams of force on the electrode during the weld is an industry best. I’ve never been more excited for our customers to put this weld head to use”
The G-Servo's performance numbers are impressive, given that the nearest competitive weld head can only get down to 75 grams of force. The more popular models fare even worse at 200 grams of force. What's the difference between 30, 75, and 200 grams? Does it really matter? It depends. If you're able to get the weld you need for a specific application that requires less than 75 grams of force, then the difference is huge.
In a micro weld head configuration, you'll find Sunstone's standard 5x microscopic optics factory-attached. When combined with 300 lumens of built-in LED lighting, the optics deliver a crystal clear picture of the work area. The microscope can be adjusted via three different joints; you're bound to position the scope for comfortable viewing.
The G-servo provides force, position, and displacement feedback through the power supply. Currently, the G-Servo is only paired with the Sunstone Pico DC, also a new face in the Sunstone line up of welders. The Pico DC's digital touchscreen interface will display the data coming from the G-Servo and also allow you to control the G-servo using the same interface. It's all digital and super precise. In the near future, the G-servo will also pair with Sunstone existing line of automated capacitive discharge welders.
Force, position, and displacement feedback adds to the weld head’s fit for applications that require precision welding, such as microelectronics, electric motors and coils, actuators, magnetic wire, and any other situation that requires a fine weld in a specific spot for R&D or automated production.
As with all of Sunstone's weld heads and welders, the G-servo is backed by Sunstone's renown, white-glove customer service. And when you join the Sunstone Circle, you can enjoy a "forever warranty" for as long you remain subscribed to the service.
